When Will My Domain Begin to Work and My Website go Live?

If you have a new domain name, you must change or make sure the nameservers are set to point to AlliedHosting. This article will give you some background information on DNS and what should be expected when changing your nameservers.

What is Propagation and How Long Would it Typically Take?

Nameserver changes usually take 24 to 72 hours to fully start working. This period, called propagation, which is the average length of time it takes for the nameservers and cache records across the entire World Wide Web "WWW" to be updated with your website's DNS information. Due to this propagation, not all visitors will be directed to your new nameservers on your new hosting account; some visitors will continue to be directed to your old name servers on your old hosting account until propagation is complete.
